Supreme Court refused to stay the National Green tribunal permission

In the case which is filed against the national green tribunals approval for the Sterlite Company to carry out the administrative work in the sealed factory in Tuticorin, SC refuses to change the order of NGT. It disposed the petition of Tamilnadu Government. While it disposed the petition, SC bench also asked the NGT to come out the final decision soon rather than taking it further long. Advocates appearing for the company argued that Factory was sealed without any information to the company and it was taken unilaterally by the government for political reasons.

Earlier last week, NGT allowed the company to access the administrative unit of the factory while staying the other works. Next hearing in the NGT comes up for hearing on the 20th of August and clearer picture will emerge on that day how the things will shape up. Already the workers and the other units which depend on Sterlite are staging protests to reopen the factory in the Tuticorin.
