Indian Player won junior badminton gold after 53 years
Lakshaya Sen won the gold in Asian Junior badminton championship yesterday in straight sets. It is the third Gold medal for India in the junior event. Earlier PV Sindhu and Gautham Thakkar have also won the Gold medals in the junior event. 16 year old Indian defeated the world no 1 Kunalvat Vitidsarn in straight games 21-19 21-18 to win the top honor.
With this win, he became the first Indian to win a medal in this competition and first Indian men to win the gold after 53 years. Gautam Thakkar was the last Indian man to win the event way back in 1965 and top Indian shuttler PV Sindhu was the last Indian to win the event in 2012.
