Heavy rain in Coimbatore hit the normal life

While the state capital Chennai is still reeling under the hot sun, normal life in Coimbatore has been hit by heavy rains in last few days. With the onset of the South West monsoon, Coimbatore is getting the good amount of rainfall from last week itself. With the help of the rain, dams in the Coimbatore district are getting filled fast. Siruvani River from which much of the city gets the daily drinking water is flooded with heavy rain. Water level in the siruvani dam is increasing with the continuous rainfall in the river catchment area. People who are living in the riverside have been asked to move away as a safety measure.

Local district administration has declared the holiday for schools in Coimbatore due to incessant rain. Neighboring Nilgiri district also got heavy rain and the rivers which are originating from the Nilgiri Mountain are also flooded with rainwater.
